So, I've finally started taking my '72 Super apart for bodywork. Even though this is just a quick respray, I'm gonna need some serious help with welding and patch panels. I twisted out a bunch of the threaded inserts in my fenders, so I'll need new inserts welded in. I also broke off a couple bolt heads, which I have no clue how to get out now that they're broken. I also need to make a couple patches for my rear quarters, which have started rusting out. This isn't a restoration by any means, but I just want the car looking decent again. But as I have no experience in any of this stuff...I'm gonna need someone to stop by and help me out. Preferably someone with a welder...all I have is this little Bernz-O-Matic torch with wire. I'm willing to learn all this stuff, but I need someone to show me how to do it first. I am slightly overwhelmed, I need this car finished by the end of next month.

Thanks,

Clark

Here's what needs to be done, I went out to the car and sketched this. DF=Driver front and so on. The little squares are the fender inserts, that's most all of the welding that needs to be done.

I think I have the sheet metal that you need to patch in front of your wheel wells.

Awesome!

And I'm considering paying someone to weld in everything, depending on how much it would cost and if I can learn how to weld.

Hey everyone, I hate to be such a nag, but I need this car done. A local shop quoted me $2200  Shocked to do the welding, they wanted to go in and replace all sorts of stuff...and I don't really think they wanted to work on my car. Thanks to Nick and Chuito for helping out so far!  Cheesy Now I need to get it done, all at once. My parents are tired of it sitting around and so am I. I will pay you for your work, just not $2200  Tongue I'm 17, it's not like I'm rolling in money. I do auto detailing, I'd be happy to clean up your car(s) for you in exchange for work on my car as well. I can post pictures of everything that needs to be done when I get the car back on Monday.
